Using Cream For The Treatment Of Chronic Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are probably one of the most uncomfortable and reoccurring conditions that people today have to contend with. Couple that in with the factor that most people are hesitant to go to or talk to their doctor about their condition, and the result is self medication. This is especially easy since a variety of hemorrhoid cream medications can be purchased over the counter without a doctor’s prescription.

If you have not visited your doctor about your anal condition, and have been treating your condition with only over the counter ointments, then you are doing enough. First and foremost, schedule a visit with your doctor. Second, take the time to educate yourself about the condition and various techniques you could be doing to prevent reoccurring outbreaks. You may discover that your condition is not a chronic condition at all.

By visiting with your doctor you may become aware that many of your lifestyle choices are contributing to your condition. Sometimes very simple changes in your lifestyle can lead to a huge improvement in your condition.

If you suffer from constant diarrhea or constipation, which is the leading cause of the condition, then you are probably not getting enough fiber in your diet. Fiber aids the digestive system in firming stools as well as allowing you to easily pass them.

A diet that is high in fiber includes beans, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. And it is good to be aware that even canned or frozen vegetables contain the same amount of fiber as fresh vegetables do. However, dried fruits and vegetables tend to lose much of their fiber in the drying process.

Foods that contain little to no fiber include processed foods, ice cream and cheese. You should limit your intake of these foods. You should also limit your intake of caffeinated beverages including soda and coffee as these types of beverages tend to dehydrate you and cause constipation.

If you have visited a doctor and have been diagnosed with a chronic condition, using a hemorrhoid cream excessively can actually do more harm than good. You should only use the ointment as instructed by a healthcare provider.

While some cases are minor and do heal rather quickly with little to no effort, there are some cases that are more severe and do require immediate medical attention. If your condition worsens or is persistent you should seek the advice of a medical professional.

The most severe cases do require surgery or other methods such as rubberbanding that remove the intrusion from the rectal area. In cases where surgery is the only option, it is important to understand the different types of surgical procedures that are used in the removal of the anal intrusion.
