What Increases Your Risk Of Getting Hemorrhoids?

A hemorrhoid condition can develop due to a variety of factors. Knowing if you are a risk is the first step in preventative treatment. After all, doctors aim at the prevention of the condition and not the cure. Though surgery is available for the worst cases or the most persistent conditions, surgery is typically not the first option.

The condition occurs when veins in the anal region swell and become inflamed. The inflammation can even develop a blood clot that causes additional pain.

Factors that increase your risk of developing the anal condition include constant diarrhea and/or constipation. Diarrhea and constipation require constant straining on the pelvic area during a bowel movement, which is the greatest known cause of the condition.

The condition is typically more common in people who are overweight, or in people who have a family history of developing the condition.

People age fifty or older are typically more susceptible of inquiring the condition. In fact, half the people age fifty or over that report for a physical are diagnosed with the anal condition.

Pregnancy is also a known factor. As the uterus grows during pregnancy it puts added pressure on the pelvic area causing the veins to swell, thus leading to condition. Also the strain of labor can cause or worsen the condition as well.

And last, liver or heart disease is another known factor. These conditions can cause blood to back up in the lower pelvic area which can lead to the anal condition.

If you find that you may be at risk for the condition, there are a variety of preventative hemorrhoids treatment techniques that you can do now before the condition develops and has a chance to worsen.
Maintain a diet that is high in fiber. Fiber helps control bowel movements and reduces the risk of diarrhea and constipation. Foods that are high in fiber include beans, grains, and vegetables. Also a fiber supplement can be considered as well.

Develop a daily exercise regimen. Daily exercise will not only help you in warding off other medical conditions, but it has been proven that exercise helps reduces the odds of developing the anal condition as well.

Avoid the use of soaps that contain dyes or perfumes. Dyes and perfumes will only agitate the anal region, leading to the developing of the condition. Also avoid excessive scrubbing of the anal area.

If you know that you are at risk then it is best to begin preventative hemorrhoids treatment techniques as soon as possible. After all, it is these techniques, combined with a few others that doctors use to treat the condition. It is better to start preventative measures now, before the condition develops and you are forced to control it.
