That’s Interesting

Hemorrhoid is a term we all know and understand, whether we have suffered from the condition or not. But why is this a common condition in the western world and nearly non-existent in other third world countries?

Scientists have concluded that the answer lies in food choices. In countries where fast food foods and processed foods are served at a minimum then so too is diagnosis of the number of people suffering from the anal condition that is so common to us Westerners. One of the most noticeable differences that scientists have discovered between third world countries and the United States is that people in third world countries have a diet that is rich in a variety of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, which is much unlike many Westerner’s daily diets.

Americans have a very busy lifestyle, and therefore we make choices that help us in the short run, but actually hurt us in the long run. The United States is full of fast food restaurants and grocery stores that sell a wide variety of processed foods. When it comes to food, in the Western States it is all about convenience. And as with most conveniences, there is a high price to pay.

The method of creating processed and fast food includes stripping out the fiber. And it is a well known fact that processed and fast foods contain extremely high levels of fat. A diet that is high in fat and low in fiber is not only unhealthy, but it also disrupts the natural process of the body’s digestive system which is why we rely heavily on hemorrhoids treatment.

The body’s digestive system relies on a variety of foods that are high in fiber to aid in the digestive process. In fact, foods that are high in fiber actually help to firm the bowel movement and allow it easily pass through the digestive tract with little to no strain.

However, foods that are low in fiber and high in fat actually do just the opposite. They harden stools and make it more difficult to pass bowel movements, which leads to excessive straining.

Foods that are high in fiber can be found in a variety of plants, such as natural, whole grains, nuts, fruits, and a multitude of vegetables, including carrots, cabbage, and brussel sprouts.

Vegetables that have been canned or frozen contain the same amount of fiber as fresh vegetables. However, some other methods can actually reduce fiber. Drying, for example destroys the water holding qualities of fiber, and greatly reduces, if not completely eliminates fiber levels.

Sometimes the best treatment for many medical conditions is a preventative treatment. And the best hemorrhoids treatment in the world today is a diet high in fiber.
