When you’re fairly young, every time you bleed is cause for concern. If you get a paper cut, you feel like it is the end of the world, and forget about getting a serious scrape. As we get older, however, we realize that there aren’t many times when you need to get seriously worried when you’re bleeding, as the human body bleeds quite often. There are certain orifices, however, that, when they bleed, are cause for concern, and one orifice that you never want to see blood come out of is the anus.
There can be a number of reasons for the anus to bleed. You may get blood coming from the anus due to an anal fistula, or an anal fissure. Then there are the cases in which bleeding from the anus is due to rectal cancer. Before you worry too much about bleeding, however, it is a good idea to speak with your doctor and to have a thorough examination done so that you can discover what is causing the bleeding.
A Little Blood
If you see a little bit of blood when you wipe after a bowel movement, you will likely be fine to choose a hemorrhoid treatment from your local pharmacy, or one that you can do with the ingredients that you already have at home. A small amount of blood means that the hemorrhoid is acting up and a bit raw, but doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to undergo hemorrhoid surgery or anything else quite so severe.
A Great Deal of Blood
If, however, you wipe and there is a great deal of blood, or the bleeding doesn’t stop, you should avoid looking for a hemorrhoid treatment and should seek out your physician as soon as possible. A hemorrhoid that is bleeding this badly may be due to a serious problem with the veins, or the condition may not be caused by a hemorrhoid at all, but my something much more severe. Whenever you see a great deal of red blood, especially if it is bright red, make sure you make an appointment to see your doctor immediately, and if the bleeding isn’t stopping, take yourself off to the emergency room without delay.
Bleeding from the anus is enough to make anyone worry, but it is goo to know that the majority of the time the anus bleeds simply due to hemorrhoids. With the right hemorrhoid treatment, you can solve the problem and can stop the bleeding from occurring anymore. If, however, home treatment doesn’t work, make sure that you speak with your doctor as soon as you can so that the problem can get resolved before it gets worse.
