Every year, doctors and pharmaceutical companies spend millions of dollars to try to get men all over North America and Europe in to see doctors. But the irrational fear that many have of doctors tends to be more powerful than even this giant ad campaign. But recent studies have shown that more and more men should be headed to the doctor if they suffer from occasional hemorrhoids than first thought. In more and more men, a case of hemorrhoids may be a sign of a significantly more serious medical condition.
In a few cases, the same symptoms that may present as hemorrhoids can also be the same symptoms for certain types of colon cancers that are only found in men. Of course, that is not to say that every case of hemorrhoids is a case of cancer, but if even only one out of every thousand cases is actually a deadly case of cancer, men should be running, not walking, to their doctor to see what is what.
And if occasional hemorrhoid sufferers don’t feel the need to go to the doctor right away, a lingering case of hemorrhoids should be cause for men to make that appointment. While a mild case is simply a painful annoyance, if your hemorrhoids stick around for too long, they increase the chances of getting infected, which can be a very serious medical condition.
If you have tried the traditional hemorrhoid treatments, like over the counter creams like Preparation H and warm baths that you can sit in to reduce swelling and dramatically increased hydration, which is also known to help prevent hemorrhoids, you should seek the advice of a qualified medical doctor as soon as possible. Many men deal with occasional hemorrhoid outbreaks, but if you have a lingering case, don’t take it lightly.
