Of all the medical conditions experienced by people all over the world, very few are as self diagnosed and self medicated as hemorrhoids. Many men and women are to embarrassed to seek professional medical advice when dealing with this condition, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Internet has become the number one resource people turn to when they need reliable advice on dealing with their hemorrhoids. Here are a few common sense do’s and don’ts you can follow when it comes to your hemorrhoid problem.
DO – Keep the areas in and around your hemorrhoid clean and dry as much as possible. Unless you’ve decided to use a bath as a way to ease the pain and discomfort of your hemorrhoid, try to keep the area dry and clean to avoid any possible infections. While a hemorrhoid is a serious medical condition, an infected hemorrhoid can be a life threatening situation that should be seen by a doctor right away.
DON”T – keep a bleeding hemorrhoid to yourself. If your hemorrhoids begin to bleed, it is highly recommended that you seek the help of a doctor right away. Not only are you risking infection but you also might have other underlying problems that are causing the bleeding that need to be seen by a doctor right away.
DO – Keep tabs on when your hemorrhoids are at their worst and chart out your day to see what possible triggers you might have. It could be a particular kind of food you ate or it could be the fact that you didn’t drink enough water and you became constipated. By knowing your triggers, you are half way to solving your hemorrhoid problem.
DON’T – ignore them. The pain and swelling make ignoring hemorrhoids pretty impossible anyway, but if you are consistently having problems, seek the advice of your local doctor for more information.

i hav a question, how do i know if i have internal hemoroids? ive been eating constipating foods this week and to my surprise, blood came out with my bm today.
I would make an appointment with your doctor. I know it can be embarrassing but it is not worth risking your health over.
I know I have hemorrhoids (and from what I have read they are probably “thrombose”), and as embarrassing as it is I’ll do ANYTHING to get rid of the pain. I just need to know what sort of specialist to see to get of this pain in the a** (haha, man I’m awesome!). I was thinking gastroenterologist but from what I heard, they deal more with the intestinal tract and not the rectum. I need some guidance here.
I’m not actually sure which hemorrhoid I have. Sometimes it will be throbbing and very painful, but it will be completely internal. While other times it will be protruding, is it possibly a prolapsed hemorrhoid? I tried to talk to a doctor about it, I told her that the protruding hemorrhoids are very uncomfortable and painful but the most unbearable pains come at night and they wake me up. The doctor shrugged it off and recommended one of those donuts and a cream. I don’t really want to have surgery but it seems that it’s the only other option. I can barely even think when I get the worst pains, moving isn’t an option and a donut or a cream will not work.
